Emergency services were kept on high alert during Thursday’s 4/20 events in Vancouver.

Police, fire, ambulance, Park Board, and City of Vancouver staff were busy at Sunset Beach and the Vancouver Art Gallery. Overall, there were few significant incidents of note.

At the peak, approximately 40,000 people and 525 vendor tents gathered at Sunset Beach. An estimated 150 people gathered at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

First responders attended to 39 medical emergencies, and 19 people were taken to hospital for further treatment.

Officers issued eight driving suspensions for the consumption of drugs, and two drivers were criminally charged with impaired driving.

Police remained at the events until approximately 10 p.m., encouraging vendors to dismantle tents in the Sunset Beach area.
