A man entered an East Vancouver gas station the morning of December 23. The staff asked him to put on a mask, as per the mandatory health order. He became upset and allegedly deployed bear spray at an employee before fleeing.
Initial police patrols in the area did not locate the man, but when officers were responding to a break-and-enter in progress nearby, the suspect description matched with the suspect in the bear-spraying.
Officers located and arrested the suspect, who confessed to the assault with a weapon.
