Vancouver – A 17-year-old has been arrested by Vancouver Police and charged with aggravated assault in the stabbings of four people Wednesday night in the Downtown Eastside.
VPD officers responded around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday to reports that multiple people had been stabbed outside a building near East Hastings Street and Jackson Avenue. Four people – three men and a woman ranging in age from 33 to 60 – received treatment in hospital for stab wounds.
The teen suspect was arrested at another location in the Downtown Eastside within hours of the alleged assaults. He was held in custody overnight and charged today with four counts of aggravated assault.
Police believe one of the four victims was targeted, and that the three others were bystanders.
The suspect is currently being held in custody.
