Vancouver Police will deploy dozens of extra officers to the downtown core on Saturday in anticipation of protests that could draw tens of thousands of people.
VPD anticipates that 30,000 people could gather around David Lam Park in Yaletown to take part in the Global Day of Action – a coordinated series of protests against the current Iranian regime. The Global Day of Action is one five separate rallies taking place around the downtown core on Saturday.
Police are working with protest organizers to mitigate disruptions caused by large crowds. People traveling in the downtown core may experience delays caused by crowds and road closures.
Officers will be deployed on bicycles, motorcycles, in vehicles, and on foot to manage crowds, and to facilitate peaceful protests.
