Vancouver Police are investigating after two fishermen found what was believed to be a human lower leg floating under the Cambie Street Bridge.

Around 3:30 p.m. on October 5th, two fishermen returning to False Creek after a day on the water found what they believed to be a human lower leg and foot connected to a running shoe. The fishermen called 9-1-1.

The Vancouver Police and the B.C. Coroners Service were called in to investigate. The remains were examined by the coroner and determined to be human.

There is no indication of an identity at this stage in the investigation. The investigation will centre on identifying the victim and investigators will liaise with outside police agencies as required.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.
