One man remains in hospital after an alleged home invasion at a downtown Vancouver apartment.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m., police were called to a high rise residential building on Homer near Davie Street after receiving multiple reports that armed suspects had forced their way into an apartment.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. The suspects fled prior to police arrival and no arrests have been made.

The 39-year-old victim was taken to hospital and has undergone surgery for his injuries. He remains in serious, but stable condition and is expected to survive. One other occupant in the apartment at the time of the incident was not seriously injured.

The victim has no criminal record, but he is known to police and believed to be associated to gangs and drugs. While it is still early in the investigation, the attack appears targeted.
