Vancouver Police are continuing their investigation into shots fired Friday afternoon in South Vancouver. There have not been any reports of injuries, however, at least one occupied business was hit by a stray bullet.‎

Just after 2:30 p.m. on October 13th, police received several reports of shots fired and people fleeing the area of Main Street and East 51st Avenue. Officers flooded the area and as a result of an extensive search, located evidence and took three men into custody for questioning to determine what role, if any, they had in the incident. Two of the men were later released without charges, and the third remained in police custody on an unrelated matter.

“Luckily, no innocent bystanders were injured. A couple of inches to the left or right could have led to serious injuries or death,” says Constable Jason Doucette. “We’re thankful for the witnesses who came forward after the shots, but we know there are others out there with information about those responsible for the shooting. We are asking those people to do the right thing and come forward.”

Officers from the VPD’s Organized Crime Section are assisting in this investigation. There is no additional information to share at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
